this & that: week of 4/14/18
This weekend is a busy one over here at Beneath the Crust. Maria is off in California hiking with a childhood friend (at 28 weeks pregnant, mind you)! Her energy and commitment to staying active is truly remarkable. If you missed it before, here's a crash course in Maria's approach to fitness.
Sophie has been assisting with a high school Shakespeare troupe that is putting on Much Ado About Nothing, so you can imagine how busy she has been. The long hours of preparation are finally paying off--the show opened last night and she reports back that the kids are doing splendidly.
I've been keeping my usual busy with writing & editing work, but I was happy to take on something a little more exciting this weekend: iced wedding dress sugar cookies for a bridal shower! They are all finished, waiting to be boxed up, and I can't wait to share them on the blog later this week.
Now here are some things that caught our attention this week:
Mommy brain is so real. (The day lights savings statistic is insane!)
If that freaked you out like it did me, maybe this will reassure you.
Absolutely breathtaking. Sophie: "Sometimes perspective radically transforms things."
This is why Maria home schools. "Even though I never thought I wanted to, and sometimes wonder why I am doing it."

Yay! Another one to add to the collection.
Been eyeing this recipe for a while. It just looks like such a yummy side dish
Just watched this last night, and it was tons of fun. (Side note: the Momofuku cakes were part of the inspiration behind Maria's hazelnut caramel meringue cake.)
Have you heard of the egg spoon?
