Vintage Recipes
I came across this little gem in an antique store in Tomball - an old recipe box stuffed (literally stuffed, I mean, look at it) with old recipes. Some are handwritten, some are typed out (on a type-writer OF COURSE) , some are clipped from ancient magazines ... some are literally scrawled out on scraps of paper as if whoever wrote it just couldn't leave the party without it. Anyway, I couldn't pass it up. I love looking at recipes, and the aged quality makes these a little more intriguing. Plus, don't we have all have a favorite "Grandma's" recipe? Sometimes oldies really are goodies. So I had this idea that I could work through some of these recipes. At least some of them have to be good, right? (I mean, Party Loaf? Someone clearly thought that was a winner.) But I'm sure I'll happily re-bury others (*cough cough* Pink Devil Dip *cough cough*). I'm even thinking I might try to modernize the good ones, bring them to this decade. Brown the butter, that kind of thing. So this is project Vintage Recipes. Stay tuned.
