Happy mother's day to all you mamas out there! I hope your tomorrow is lovely. And if you're not a mom, happy mother's day to your mother! I hope you call her, at the very least.
Mother's Day is a funny balance of being appreciated for what you do as a mother and just wanting a day off from being a mother. Oh I'm kidding of course. Or am I? I find it to be a tricksy kind of day. I've got some Mother's Day musings coming. Stay tuned.
For now, join us for some Saturday morning reading, Mother's Day edition!
These make me laugh and my life is #24, every. single. day.
Honest pregnancy tracker, hahaha.
This is crazy, and WHERE WAS THEIR MOTHER?
Beautiful. A reminder that Mother's Day can be more sorrow than joy for some.
"Never have mothers been so burdened by motherhood." Oof. Do you have your village? Do you have a source of collective memory? Sarah touched on this and we shared a similar article not long ago.
Ok, this is for all women, not just mothers. What do you think of the shaving emancipation? I was just talking about this with a friend. Also make-up. Is it giving in to the pressures of arbitrary standards of beauty? (For real though, there are stretches of time in motherhood when you can't find time to shave and in those times I have wished we could all collectively buck the practice.)
Deb Perelman is so real. An inspiration to mothers, cooks, and cooking mothers alike.
This is amazing. Eggs are the answer to it's-been-a-long-day-I-don't-want-to-cook.
I hope this cake can work itself into your weekend.
