Recipe Round-Up: September

We wanted to start a new series where we share recent bakes and cooks we made throughout the month. What we loved and why. So on this last day of September, here are some things we made:

Chocolate Loaf via King Arthur Flour Blog. Deep chocolate and moist, but with a coarser mouth feel. Reminiscent of sacher torte? Regardless, more a sweet bread than a full out cake, so totally okay anytime of the day. You’re welcome. (Pro tip: Use flat Oktoberfest — or any beer — in place of the milk for extra yum.)

Naan (Indian Flatbread) via Food Network. So easy (didn’t even bother kneading — just mixed it up and let it sit!), but phenomenal flavor. Tastes like it came straight from an Indian restaurant. Recipe search ended. I’m more than content with these.

Double Coconut Muffins via Smitten Kitchen. A frequent bake. Slightly custardy in the middle, so moist (so baking ahead is no problem), and packed with coconut. Delicious.

Peperonata via Serious Eats. Love how many peppers this recipe uses all at once (the garden is pumping!). But even more awesome, it is so dang tasty. Seriously. Eat it as a side, as part of an egg, steak, or sausage sandwich, as a pasta topping…you can’t go wrong.

Pumpkin Muffin Doughnuts via Brown Eyed Baker. Fall is officially here, so it’s okay to pull out all the pumpkin stops. These fun little muffins are dipped in melted butter and rolled in cinnamon sugar. What’s not to love?

Maple Dijon Pot Roast via The Kitchn. One of my favorite ways to cook a roast. Paired with oven-roasted carrots and a pile of mashed potatoes, this is comfort food at its best.
